New machinery demonstrations at the Dairy Event and Livestock Show – silage choppers and cubicle bedders
27 July 2011
The first ever silage chopper and cubicle bedder demonstrations at The NEC, Birmingham will feature at the Dairy Event and Livestock Show to be staged by its organisers, the Royal Association of British Dairy Farmers on Tuesday 6 and Wednesday 7 September.
The John Deere sponsored demonstrations will be staged immediately outside the main exhibition halls in an area designed with cubicles and feed barriers. It will feature seven different models of silage choppers and three leading cubicle bedder models. Each machine will demonstrate twice, in rotation, on both days. Visitors will be able to observe from a viewing area protected by a Cover-All Building.
RABDF chief executive, Nick Everington comments: “We are staging a new series of demonstrations in a purpose built area at The NEC to enable livestock farmers to make comparisons and subsequently more informed decisions before making what amounts to a significant investment. There is currently an immense interest in silage choppers from not only dairy, but also beef farmers and large scale sheep producers seeking to reduce wastage and improve intakes, while cubicle bedders are proving popular by introducing huge time savings to the daily routine.”
He adds: “Our thanks to David Ritchey for offering the yard scraper to tidy up after each demonstration, IAE for the cubicle framework and feed barriers and Dallas Keith for the Cover-All.”
