2009 Prince Philip Award

Paul Gerrard of GEA Farm Technologies received the Award from Baroness Byford, President of RABDF and Ian Macalpine, one of the judges


The 2009 Prince Philip Award was made to GEA Farm Technologies at the Dairy Event and Livestock Show, Stoneleigh Park, on Wednesday 16th September.  This award is for the most practical relevant and best presented technical exhibition or demonstration at the Event.

17 Entries ranged from automatic feed pushers, herd health software, wireless weighing systems, a virtual cow, trace element boluses and milk vending machines.

Three judges shortlisted 11 entries for closer inspection by judges Ian Maclapine and Derrick Davies. Unfortunately the third judge Frank Armitage was unable to be at the Event.

After due considerationthe top two positions were:

Highly Commended

A device that would save money from the moment it was used with improved efficiency at the same time. Priced well within every farmers budget, with a good presentation on a well presented stand the highly commended award goes to Dairymac Ltd with the Eco-Dipper Dip Cup.

The judges were impressed by the obvious amount of work that would have been done to bring this product to market, being the only one of its kind with the potential for further development with an excellent stand and an outstanding, knowledgeable presentation, the winners are

G E A Farm Technologies with the I Q Cluster

GEA will be invited to receive their certificate from HRH The Duke of Edinburgh at a presentation at Buckingham Palace in November.
