RABDF Prince Philip Award goes to Dairy Spares
6 December 2011
Dairy Spares Ltd was presented with the RABDF Prince Philip Award 2011 by His Royal Highness at Buckingham Palace this week. The honour was made to the company for research and development in the field of dairy farming and the most practical, relevant and best technical exhibit at the Dairy Event and Livestock Show this year.
The judges made their decision on the Shropshire based company's cowCam Online, a platform based on the latest internet technology which enables farmers to view their housed livestock remotely - from their mobile phone, home TV or computer anywhere in the world.
"We are absolutely delighted to win this award in what was the first year we had entered a competition in 12 years of exhibiting at the event," says Dairy Spares' Anita Davies. "cowCam Online is a very practical piece of kit which enables farmers to keep an eye on their livestock without having to actually be with them all the time, thereby enabling them to save time and labour, reduce stress and improve overall management."
A Certificate of Merit was awarded to Dutch based SAC NL for its Total Integrated Management (TIM) system that combines in one single central unit the latest milking robot process software and electronics together with the accompanying dairy management programme.
RABDF's chief executive, Nick Everington says: "As organiser of the Dairy Event and Livestock Show, we are focused on communicating to farmers the benefits of best practice and technology transfer which will help towards improving their businesses' overall efficiency. We are pleased to reward those exhibitors who excel in technical innovation and presentation, and Dairy Spares' cowCam Online was an excellent example." He adds: "RABDF will once again be staging the award at the rebranded Livestock 2012 Incorporating Dairy Event at The NEC, Birmingham on 4 and 5 September, and we look forward to another set of high calibre entries."
