On average, between 40 and 50 workers are killed on British farms every year. That’s nearly one person per week. Injuries and illness ruin lives and businesses. Solutions are often simple and cheap and the people best placed to make farms safer are farmers and their employees. Health & safety is a fundamental requirement for a sustainable farming business. RABDF is working with HSE to deliver key health & safety messages to farmers and those working in the industry. The Farm Safety Demonstrations kindly sponsored and supported by John Deere, will be the first of its kind to appear at any Agricultural Event. The practical demonstrations will feature four scenarios running consecutively over both Event days, which represent the main causes of fatality on farm today. The scenarios will demonstrate the risks associated with poor health & safety practices and highlight the causes and consequences of accidents as well as demonstrating the correct safe approach

Livestock Hall

This zone will be located in Hall 16.

Following the success of the “National All Breeds Show” at the Dairy Event & Livestock Show in 2011, 2012 will see its return for a second year.   Managed by Holstein UK and generously sponsored by Pfizer Animal Health. This zone will also feature Dairy Breed Society exhibitors.

New Smithfield, developed in partnership with the Royal Smithfield Club (RSC), will be located in the Livestock Hall again for its second year. New Smithfield will feature a series of practical demonstrations and technical presentations on how to deal with some of the major issues facing both beef and sheep farmers. These will include ideas on how to maximise finished prices by working with processors, use of EBVs in genetic selection and how to reduce disease incidence by improving bio security. These seminars are designed to attract livestock farmers to the New Smithfield Exhibition area and there will be opportunities for Breed Societies and Meat Processors to benefit from the footfall by exhibiting with trade stands and pens of either cattle or sheep in the surrounding area.

Eblex have generously agreed to sponsor the beef and sheep element of the show.
